Put Lava soap on wet rag & rub out stains.
or soap pads.
even Comet/Ajax will work - - these need much more rinsing.
or Denture tablets.

The best way, fill the mug with water and drop in a tablet of any over the counter denture cleaner in the morning, the stains will be gone.

With tea stains the easiest (and sadly, I kind it sort of fun) way to clean them off of mugs and the teapot is to make a thick paste from baking soda and water then rub the stains - they come right off as if you were using an eraser. This should work for coffee as well, but haven't tried it. Hope this helps!

Have you tried a "magic eraser" (Mr. Clean-type)? I've tried something similar that was a japanese product that worked well on coffee and tea stains on cups. It can be found by sponges and cleaning supplies at Target and grocery stores.

There is a product on the market that is designed to take iron rust out of porcelain tubs, it is called, "Whink". Pour some of this into the cup, slosh around and it comes right out, stains are gone & you can pour that into another cup and do the same.
BE SURE YOU WEAR RUBBER GLOVES WHEN DOING THIS, & RINSE YOU CUPS THOROUGHLY. I'D RUN THEM THROUGH THE DISHWASHER BEFORE USING THEM AGAIN.
Be sure to read the label and directions on the bottle.
We use this stuff to take fired on decals off of china and ceramics, so I know this will work.
I have a ceramic kiln, so when our cups get coffee or tea stains in them, I put them in the kiln and fire it up to about 1100 degrees. This literally burns the stains out of the cups.

let clorox sit in them a little while then rinse good, then wash with soap and water. The reason for doing it this way is that the clorox mixed with some soaps may asphixiate.
