How Do You Remove Coffee Stains From Synthetic Burbur Carpeting?
17 July 2009 in Coffee makerSomeone spilled coffee on this carpet. I didn’t attempt to clean it until the next day. I tried using Oxy Carpet cleaner without much luck. Then I tried using a concentration of regular Oxyclean diluted with water and tried flushing the area and sucking up the water with a wet-vac. This seems to have helped a bit, but not nearly enough. Any suggestions are REALLLLY appreciated!

Never use a chemical on your carpet, use an enzymatic cleaner. I’ve spilled coffee, tea, red wine, etc. on my carpets. All I do is mix the oxiclean with the hottest tap water available, pour on stain (a cup or so of the solution), let sit for 30 minutes. Blot up and rinse with hot tap water. Blot again and rinse again. Put a white bath towel over the stain, pile a couple of heavy hardbound books on the towel and let sit overnight or 24 hours. Stain should come up by a wicking action as the spot dries.
Folex. I have used this on both synthetic and natural-fiber carpets to remove coffee, red wine, grape juice, baby puke, and a host of unidentifiable stains. Some of those stains were a couple of years old. I also use it to remove grease and other stains from laundry. You can find it a home improvement stores. Their URL is http://www.folexcompany.com/.
The best carpet cleaner period is sold by people who sell Kirby vacuums. The Kirby brand cleaners will clean anything.
I use Woolite, rub in with a rag. Let it sit for about 15 mins. Rinse and blot. Should be a major improvement.
You can try using plain vinegar. However, then you will have to wash the carpet to get the vinegar smell out.
