I use it everyday – and rinse when empty – but coffee residue and stains still build up.
It’s starting to affect the flavor of the coffee.
I’ve tried soaking in soapy water, white vinegar, and just letting it air out. It helps for a week or so, but the stains are still there, and the odor returns.
(The odor is just stale coffee, btw.)

I have read that you can clean the stains with ice, salt and lemon juice. Can this be used with stainless carafes as well as glass? The coffee pot has a lot of build up (it makes up to 5 pots a day).

I just took my fully metal thermos out of storage after 5 years and realized it has a coffee stain on the inside of it and I can’t seem to get rid of it. It looks shiny almost like a varethane or something and isn’t thick at all and is even see through. Anyhow thanks for any suggestions before I head out and buy CRL.

These are unreachable by hand to do scrubbing. Is there a chemical out there safe to use on a food service item like coffee decanters? One type is just glass, and the other decanter has the lower half just of stainless steel – but it seems to hold the staining of the coffee and the brush seems to have no effect. Thanks for your help!

How To Clean A Wire Mesh Coffee Filter?

I have a coffee maker that has a fine wire screen mesh instead of a paper filter. It is slowly being clogged with coffee fines bound with residual oils. I can’t seem to get it completely cleaned out, I’d rather not spring for a new one when this one is perfectly good except for the cleaning.
I’ve tried putting it in the dishwasher, soaking it in hot soapy water, and even using one of those power steam cleaners. The steam cleaner gets some of the crud out, but not all of it.
Suggestions?
